Public Speaking Tips: Alain de Botton

by Laurie Wilhelm

Alain de Botton, A Kinder, Gentler Philosophy of Success

Alain de Botton is a very different public speaker than Anthony Robbins. (See last week’s post about Anthony Robbins and public speaking.)

Public speaking presentations don’t have to be flashy and de Botton’s style of delivery illustrates that very well. Like Robbins, de Botton has a solid and very interesting message and although he remains in one place during his talk, he still has presence and effectively engages the audience.

Comparing dramatically different public speakers, such as Robbins and de Botton, may be useful as you work towards better public speaking and deciding which styles are best suited to you.
